A partial eclipse of the sun took place this morning across the Southern Tablelands with locals being warned not to look with their naked eye.

However that proved difficult though with the inclement weather conditions this morning.

Solar equipped glasses, a telescope with a filter or a pinhole camera were needed to view it safely.

Scientist Simon O'Toole insists it was a very rare and special occasion.

Goulburn and Bowral Police will be taking part in the Special Olympics torch run at Bowral happening on December 4.

The flame will be at Corbett Gardens, where it will be carried from Merrigang Street to Bong Bong Street, through the Bowral CBD.

The cauldron will then be lit at Bradman Oval by a Special Olympian and the Goulburn Local Area Commander, Superintendent Gary Worboys.

Inspector Anthony Maclean is encouraging the community and local schools to get involved in the event.

Liberal Candidate for Hume Angus Taylor officially opened his campaign office at 264 Auburn St, Goulburn on Saturday.

Shadow Minister for Immigration Scott Morrison was present at the launch with the office a base from which Mr. Taylor can travel to all parts of the electorate.

Mr Taylor sent a letter to all households in the Goulburn Mulwaree Shire inviting them to attend the opening, followed by a BBQ in Belmore Park.

He says people are welcome to stop past and make themselves known.
