Essential Energy are blaming Tuesday afternoon's power outage in Goulburn on a bird that flew into the Rocky Hill zone substation.

The disruption left 4300 residents and businesses without power for more than an hour on the outskirts and rural areas to the south.

Regional General Manager Phillip Green says they'll be trying to prevent the same situation from happening again.

Residents on the Southern Tablelands will have the opportunity to find out more about renewable energy at an information and demonstration day on November 21.

The event will be happening at three different locations including Gunning, Bungendore as well as the ACT and will include a wind farm and bioreactor tour.

State Coordinator Mark Squires says locals will better understand how to implement energy efficiency methods into their daily lives.

The Legendary Rodney Rude will be performing at the Goulburn Soldiers Club and in Crookwell at the start of next month.

The larrikin comedian has fought several long and expensive court cases defending his right to perform his shows to adult audiences.

Rodney says returning to Goulburn always brings back plenty of memories.
