National Archives Management in Canberra have told a parliamentary committee that it wouldn't be practical to re - locate storage for its classified documents in Goulburn.
Assistant director Cheryl Watson says the move would cost $10 million dollars to connect a fibre-optic Network with government offices in Canberra.
The comments come after Goulburn Mulwaree Council agreed on spending $150,000 for a business plan to turn Goulburn into a storage precinct.
Fairfax also reports staff have complained about suggestions of travelling an extra 90 kilometres to and from work every day.
