The State Government has announced a grant of more than $675,000 to replace the Brooklands footbridge in Crookwell and Tuena suspension footbridge. 

Both structures were damaged by floodwaters in late 2010.

Council intend to replace the Brooklands bridge with a lower level causeway.

Meanwhile the Tuena bridge will be replaced with a similar design, but will be built at a higher level to provide more protection from floods.

The Southern Joint Regional Planning Panel has knocked back an application for a waste transfer station for Sydney Road at North Goulburn.

Goulburn Mulwaree Council received a number of submissions from locals angry with the proposal including a submission from NSW Health about potential odour impacts.

The panel found the proposed centre didn't meet the minimum recommended buffer distances for waste stations.

It also had concerns about increased levels of traffic generated in surrounding streets.

Sheep farmers on the Southern Tablelands are optimistic of a rise in price for lamb over  Christmas with supply from the Riverina expected to ease.

Increased supply and production as well as the state of the Australian dollar have been major factors influencing a downward spiral.

Prices are down by as much as 40 per cent from the same time last year with stock from around Goulburn just starting to run.

Rabobank's Regional Manager Michael White who's based in Goulburn believes there maybe a slight boost for sheep graziers heading into next year.
