The Taralga Sports Oval Flood Lighting Project has received a grant of almost $9000 from the last round of funding for the year by the Veolia Mulwaree Trust.

The funding also includes contributions from the Hockey and Touch Football Clubs, NSW Department of Sport and Recreational and Upper Lachlan Shire Council.

Chairman Paul Stephenson says the Taralga Rural Fire Service also received more than $11,000 for new toilet and shower facilities.

The latest Bureau of Crime Statistics shows out of 17 major offences Goulburn has improved significantly in two areas.

That includes malicious damage to property which is down by 20 per cent.

Break and enters to warehouses, shops and industrial sites are also down by a whopping 56 per cent on last year figures.

On the downside though Deputy Director Jackie Fitzgerald says sexual assault is an area of concern.

ADF bomb specialists have told Police two hand grenades and a mortar round found underneath a home in Goulburn may originate back to World War Two.

Although the two grenades were inactive experts say the mortar round was live.

Police insist there's no suggestion of anything untoward and believe the items had been underneath the Lansdowne Street home for some time.  

Inspector Evan Quarmby from Goulburn Police says it was a very delicate situation.
