Investigations in the coming weeks will determine what cuts if any there will be to Goulburn's new Performing Arts Centre.

Last night's Goulburn Mulwaree Council meeting heard full and frank discussion on possible measures to reduce the scope and thus the cost of the facility.

These include whether there will be a fly tower, the relocation of air conditioning, the removal of balcony seating and an orchestra pit in the auditorium through removable seats.

General manager, Warrick Bennett says it is incumbent on council to look at the cost.

There has been an inspection of the progress made to build the new Abercrombie River bridge north of Taralga.

State member, Wendy Tuckerman joined Upper Lachlan mayor, John Stafford and Oberon's mayor, Kathy Sajowitz

on the inspection last week.

An old timber bridge has been in operation since the 1950s and is severely deteriorated, having experienced floods and increasing vehicle usage over decades.

The new concrete bridge is 40 metres long with two lanes and can accommodate B double trucks and does away with the need for a 100 kilometre detour for heavy vehicles.

It is expected that the $1.5 million structure will be open to traffic next month.

The latest round of Goulburn Mulwaree heritage grants has been announced.

With two streams available for 2019/20, the programme is designed to encourage the conservation of items that are either heritage listed or located within heritage conservation areas.

In the Local Places category there are two grants of $5,000 available and six of $2,500 for heritage properties in Goulburn Mulwaree.

$30,000 is being made available for work on Auburn street CBD properties.

In this category, amounts will be allocated based on the significance of the item and the work proposed.

Funding is being supplied by council and the NSW Heritage Office.

Successful applicants must match their grants dollar for dollar.
