The Goulburn Mulwaree Council is awaiting a formal report on hazardous materials discovered in the historic St Clair Cottage in Sloane street.

The report pertains to a HAZMAT assessment performed in recent weeks.

This week's meeting of council was told that asbestos containing materials have been found throughout the Villa and Coach House at St Clair.

In conjunction with the HAZMAT report, a separate environmental assessment has been made on hygiene conditions due to high level of mould growth in some parts.

A priority of proposed works at St Clair shows new roof and guttering, and sub-floor ventilation at the top of the list followed by asbestos and mould removal.

$50,000 are to be invested for additional warning measures for over-height vehicles which mistakenly use Goulburn's Sloane street rail underpass.

Goulburn Mulwaree council has been regularly contacted by members of the public claiming damage to their caravans or trailers due to the low clearance under the rail bridge.

This week's meeting of council was told that there are numerous advance warning signs on the approaches to the low bridge.

Director of council operations, Matt O'Rourke says a decision has been made to install measures which will allow the drivers of high vehicles to get more advance notice.

The Goulburn Mulwaree Council has shifted its priorities on state government funding from the Stronger Country Communities programme.

In the knowledge that half of the monies in the state programme need to focus on youth, the council has reacted to an address by local resident, Debbie Muddiman at this week's meeting.

Ms Muddiman spoke to council in open forum and suggested the development of a Youth Hub at the Goulburn Police Citizens Youth Club.

Council had placed a priority on developing a Rage Cage at Leggett Park.

With nearly $890,000 available from the state under the Stronger communities fund, council has listed its number one preference as a community bus followed by an all abilities access to the proposed new Bourke street community centre.

An amenities block at the Cookbundoon sports fields is listed as third with the next in line being the Youth Hub.

In addressing council this week, Ms Muddiman said a youth hub at the PCYC would be well utilised.
