Questions are being asked of the state government as to why more money from its Stronger Country Communities fund is being directed to amalgamated councils.
Â
A hint of criticism came from this week's Goulburn Mulwaree Council meeting.
Â
General Manager, Warrick Bennett said it was disappointing that more funds were going to amalgamated councils to the detriment of others which were not merged.
Â
Mr Bennett's comments also follow representations to the Deputy premier by the mayor, who suggested that the importance of residents in the region was being devalued.
Â
As an example, General manager Bennett compared the Hilltops council which receives $127 per head of population with Goulburn Mulwaree's $27.50 per head.
Â
Under the Stronger Country Communities programme, Goulburn Mulwaree council is allocated $887,000.
