The Goulburn branch of Alcoholics Anonymous is celebrating a history which spans more than sixty years.

Alcoholics Anonymous in the city has gone from humble beginnings when just two members ran meetings, three to four times a week.

The courts would send people to the meetings and they would sign an attendance book which would present proof of their efforts towards sobriety.

A small ceremony commemorating the 66th year will be held at the back of the Bourke Street Health Centre tomorrow.

Many people had their first contact with AA in Goulburn.

Visitors are expected from north of Sydney, Wagga, Albury and Canberra.
