A proposed national Ovine Johne's Disease management plan is currently the subject of increasing debate amongst sheep producers.

The proposal will mean farmers in areas where the disease isn't common will need to show the bacteria doesn't exist.

In the meantime The Department of Industries has issued a statement saying there'll be no regulation involved with the new plan.

Yass farmer Ed Storey who's Chair of the NSW Wool Committee says most farmers on the Southern Tablelands have already been vaccinating against the disease.
