Organisers of yesterday's open day at Riversdale are hailing the turnout as an absolute knockout with around 700 people coming through the gates.

The success puts the heritage property in a great position of strength without having to rely on handouts from the National Trust.

Visitors came from right across the state including Newcastle, the Southern Highlands, Sydney, Canberra and even Melbourne

Garden Coordinator Ros Loftus says the great weather conditions played a big part.
